Marie-Pier Préfontaine
Alpine Skiing
My passion for skiing is a trait that is deeply ingrained in the Préfontaine family. And though we may not be world champions, we are hardy skiers with a true passion for this Nordic sport.
I started skiing at the age of 3. By the age of 5, I was eagerly following my mother down all types of runs. A ski instructor at the time, she was on her skis virtually every day, giving me the perfect excuse to be on the hills all the time and which explains how, several years later, I had acquired the experience necessary to win several medals and trophies.
Today, my goals and dreams to go further continue to feed my passion for this sport. Thanks to my training with the alpine skiing development team, I regularly have the opportunity to ski with the best skiers in the world, such as Anja Pearson, Tania Maze, Lindsey Vonn, and many other great athletes with whom I can compete on the training circuit.
The idea that, perhaps one day, I too will step onto a world cup podium, or maybe have the opportunity to participate in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, provides the motivation to continually work harder!
It is thanks to the unquestionable encouragement of my family and those who support me that I anticipate reaching the objectives I have set for myself.
My passion… providing the incentive to achieve my dreams!
